Maco-Sken. We end the week as we began it on the corner of technology and political science.

Recode says Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Apple have hang on to your hats gotten together to write a letter opposing the

travel ban enacted last week by the Trump administration. It seems almost

impossible that you're not aware of the ban but just in case, Recode reminds us President Trump signed an executive

order last week barring all refugees from entering the US, as well as temporarily suspending

travel from seven countries that have largely Muslim populations.

That led to protests across the country.

It also prompted heads of various tech companies to speak out on their own.

Now the four mentioned before are speaking as one and what

RICOD calls the first joint effort from big US businesses to try to support

immigration. RICOD ran a draft of the letter this week and it's

difficult for me to see how anyone could object to it. It speaks of national

pride without being nationalistic. It speaks to the contributions immigrants have made and continue to

make to this country. It speaks of compassion and it speaks of a willingness to work with the
