Apple Reports Record Results said the company's pre-earnings call press release.

That was the headline, Apple Reports Record Results. But if you expected Hosanas and

and Hazanas on such news, you, my friend, are on the wrong planet. Let's do the

numbers first. Apple sold 47.8 million iPhones in the 2012 holiday quarter up from 37 million

in the same quarter a year earlier.

And that was with one less week in the quarter.

In fact, go ahead and cement that in place if you would.

Everything you're going to hear is with one less week in which to do it.

Since the holiday quarter of 2011 had 14 weeks in it, while the holiday quarter of 2012 only had 13 weeks and yet they

sold over 10 million more iPhones or nearly 3.7 million iPhones per week.

iPhone sales grew 78% from the September quarter to the December

quarter and they were more than doubled year over year in Greater China. And

businesses and governments worldwide just love them.
