It is the best of times, it is the worst of times for Apple.

Just depends on who you ask.

Apple Insider had respected independent analyst Horace de Dieu posting a post on Wednesday.

In it he said he thinks Apple will have generated over a trillion dollars in revenue from the

iOS ecosystem sometime this year. The way he sees it the

Cupertino company will have sold 1.2 billion iPhones by the middle of 2017.

While that represents a lot of money, he thinks there's a significantly larger secondary

market for other Apple devices, including iPad, iPod Touch, Apple Watch and Apple TV.

He expects those to hit 1.75 billion units later this year running up to 2 billion in 2018. Why get excited

about secondary markets for hardware Apple's already sold? Because all those

devices run apps that can only be bought from Apple.
