It's always a special time, a great time to get together, reunion of sorts, and another year of great inductees. Ken,

thanks for a little bit of time today. Look forward to talking to you there on that evening.

How did you hear about this honor? Who called you? And what was kind of some general thoughts?

Yeah, so obviously it's been about, I think, 33 years since I've been, you know, since I've played

at Ole Miss. So it's been a while. I got a phone call that came up on my phone with a 662 area code. And I was like, huh, I guess I won't answer because I didn't know who it was. And then all of a sudden my voicemail came up and it said, hey, Ken, this is Kirk Purdom. Can you please give me a call back so i was like heck i haven't talked to

kirk since like 1992 so i wouldn't even know why he was even calling me so when i called him

back i called him immediately right back and we just started chatting and we're just you know

going over old times and you know old playing days and you know what he's doing now and you know know, what I'm doing now. And then he said, hey, man, the reason why I called you is, you know, your name came across my desk as a Hall of Fame nominee. And I just, I couldn't even believe it. I was like, no kidding. He said, you know, I'm a former player. I want to be the first one to call, you know, a former teammate,

and I wanted to be the first one to call you and let you know.

And it's just been a dream come true. You get that random call, and it probably in your mind goes, this is either really good or really bad news. Like somebody's passed away or something, or, hey, they're telling me something pretty cool here. They're probably the extremes a little bit in your head.

It was.

When he first called me, I didn't even, wasn't even running through my mind that it was a, you know, that it was a Hall of Fame call. It was more probably what you were, you know, what you're discussing now. But it was good to catch up with him and I'm excited to get back there and see him. And me and Kurtz, we've always been really good teammates and friends and stuff like that.

So it was definitely an honor for him to call me and let me know, you know, what was going on.
