So we know about Stonewall, right?

We know about these big moments from our history that affected real big change.

But recently, I've been interested in and really compelled by the smaller moments that don't necessarily come to mind.

The moments that mattered, but that future generations

aren't going to read about in history books. It's the kind of thing I think you'll hear

LZ Grannerson described today when talking about his wedding. At that point, LZ was working at

ESPN, and during Sports Nation, the show he co-hosted, and they talked about his wedding and showed pictures from it on air.

This was 2016, you know, a very different time.

And if it wasn't the first time, it definitely was one of the first times

that ESPN had shown wedding pictures from a queer couple on air,

let alone from one of the hosts that

people have been watching every day talk on TV about their favorite subject, sports.

I mean, just to broadly generalize, there's probably not a lot of overlap between the

people who watch something like Pose or Queer as Folk and the people who watch Sports Nation on ESPN.

So for them to see this, the people who probably needed to see it the most, I think it's incredibly meaningful.

Elsie joins us today to share that story. He also talks about how being the quote-unquote first somewhere doesn't mean it's

going to be easy. It doesn't mean you're necessarily going to be set up for success. And we also

What I think is so interesting about your career is that for the time, you know, like 20 years ago,

it would have been really easy for you to have been out and just never talk about it, to be out, but really kind of like let people forget about it.

And you didn't do that. You wrote about being gay, you talked about being gay, in a way I think that stands out for the time.
