That noise you're hearing is a grumbling of the stomach of one of my guests, Joaquin Phoenix, the treatment.

I'm here with a couple of old friends who aren't old friends

of the show, but should be.

The new movie, you would never really hear,

which is an adaptation of the terrific Jonathan Ames novella,

which when I got in the mail, I basically read it by the time I got in the house.

The star, of course, Joaquin Phoenix is director and the adapter,

and this is your third adaptation is linda ramsey first all guys thanks so much for being here thanks for having us thank you and what was that you saw in the book

then that made you want to do it because it's a really fast read kind of like you know it probably

took me as long to read it as this film the length of this film you know about 90 minutes and

like he was this middle-aged guy going to see, you know,

it had something in it, I liked,

but I wasn't sure what it was going to be yet.

Like, I never really do a straight adaptation.

I haven't yet anyway, something that's very literary or anything like that.

So I wrote it in spec, yeah, and to see what it would be. And then four weeks later, I had

a first draft, you know, so. And I was in an island in Greece writing and there's not much
