It was one of those nights.

My wife and I were staying up to late, eating cookies in bed, and googling questions

like, where did all the water on Earth come from?

You know, one of those nights.

We don't really know where all the water came from.

Comments maybe, or Earth made it in its core.

We really don't know.

Anyway, that search led us down this weird path, this Google rabbit hole, about rain,

but floods, and we found ourselves staring at a page for something called Project Cumulus.

One thing led to another, and we ended up somewhere I didn't expect.

In Encharming, English seaside town, called Lin-Mit.

I'm Dylan Thoris, and this is Atlas Obscura, a celebration of the world's strange, incredible

Today, we'll explore Lin-Mit, that seaside town in Devon, and learn about the disaster

that got locals wondering about things like government conspiracies, weather control,

and if human beings can actually, truly, for real, make it rain.

It lies at the foot of the cliffs where the rivers join, a quaint tangle of little streets

waiting to be explored, so compact and selfish.
