Hey everyone, welcome back to Forward. My name is Jules Terpack and I'll be hosting today.

I've been on about four or five episodes so far, but if you haven't tuned into those,

I'll give a recap of who I am one last time. I'm a second digital culture commentator

predominantly on TikTok and I find things like UBI and independent politics to be essential

conversations for our future. I'm super excited about today's guest. Today's guest is one of my

favorite Twitter followers and his bio is straight to the point, interested in human nature. So we're

going to explore many facets of that today. Rob Henderson is a PhD student in Gates Cambridge

Scholar at the University of Cambridge. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology

from Yale University is a veteran of the US Air Force. His writing has appeared in The New York Times,

the Wall Street Journal, and Colette, among many other outlets. Rob's main area of research is in

moral psychology and you may have even seen him on the Jordan Peterson podcast. Thanks for being here, Rob.

Thanks Jules, great to be here. So that's a super impressive bio, but what I find even more impressive

and surprising is your background and your journey up until this point. It's definitely not that

of a typical Yale college students and I would love people to hear it through your words.

Yeah, sure. So like you mentioned, I'm a PhD student here in Cambridge in my fourth and final year.

And before this, I studied psychology at Yale's in undergrad and worked as a research assistant

in a psych lab there at the university, but before I entered these universities, my life was a lot

different. So backing way up, I was born in Los Angeles and born into poverty. I never knew

who my father was. My mother became addicted to drugs and she wasn't able to care for me.
