Well, this is our 4100th episode special and we're going to bring you the Lux Radio

theater adaptation of the Maltese Falcon. Now, typically, I don't do our long specials except for

200 episodes, like 4200, 4400, etc. However, we have another Maltese Falcon adaptation we're going

to play when we finish up the Sam Spade series with Stephen Dunne, so I don't want to have a

situation where playing that story too often. Alright, well, all that out of the way, we're going

to be bringing you Edgar G. Robinson in the Maltese Falcon, the original air date February 8th,

1943. Let's go ahead and take a listen. Lux presents Hollywood.

intellectual challenge they present. Personally, I'm seldom able to figure out who done it without

skipping to the back of the book, but give me a good detective story, and like presidents,

bankers, housewives, and chorus girls, the country over, I find that my own troubles

pulled up their tents like the Arabs and silently steal away. Tonight, we point with pride to a

triumph of the art. The Vashel Hammett Classic, the Maltese Falcon, brought to us by three of our

favorite stars, Edward G. Robinson, Gail Patrick, and Laird Kriegar. The Warner Brothers
