Luca Donchich signings extension with the Los Angeles

Lakers and what this is ultimately going to mean for the team.

Done deal.

Three year $165 million extension.

Luca himself announced it on social media.

Yeah, look, this is the deal that we expected to see.

This is the deal that we thought he was probably going to go with in terms of it being a,

it's really a two-year extension on his contract.

It's a three-year extension technically.

But the final year of the deal is a player option.

Now, I would not look at that and think, oh, that's Luca trying to put pressure on the

team to win or that's that's Luca trying to make, make the Lakers make other moves

or anything like that or that's Luca trying to get ready to leave the Lakers at some point. No, the reason why the number of years is what it is, is so that

Luca can sign his next contract when he hits 10 years of service. And what that means is that

he can get a 35% of the cap max at that point. That's what this is about for Luca and why it's a three year and not a four year extension.
