I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

We're hearing some new rumblings in the trial, the upcoming trials of Luigi Magione, the accused shooter of United Healthcare CEO,

Brian Thompson, that happened in December 2024. This case has been getting a great deal of publicity, of course, as we all know.

It sort of hit the ire of the public who have problems with health care

and United Healthcare specifically in claims being denied by these major healthcare companies.

And of course, this man, Brian Thompson, being demonized by those people

because he was the captain, the CEO of that organization, United Healthcare.

So as a result, many people took the side of this young, wealthy young man,

26 years old, graduate of University of Penn and Ivy League School from an extremely,

extremely wealthy family.

But yet, many people are looking at this case as if Brian Thompson was the bad guy in this case.

And he deserved everything he got, not Luigi Mangione in getting arrested for this.

Many people feel that Luigi Mangioni is perhaps even a political football, a political prisoner.

But the case against Luigi Mangione is extremely solid.

And the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, the prosecutor,

Joel Seideman, a 40-year prosecutor for the Manhattan DA's office,

is one of the very best at the Manhattan DA's office.

In addition, the feds, the Southern District, have a case,

a capital case against Luigi Mangione, one in which the federal government is eligible

to go for the death penalty of this man. So that's what we potentially are looking at.
