Hey there and welcome to today's encouragement from Our Daily Bread.

Our reading titled Lucky Boots was written by Tim Gustafson.

0:14.6

Too late, Tom felt the chilling click beneath his combat boots.

0:20.0

Instinctively, he bounded away in an adrenaline-fueled

0:23.1

leap. The deadly device hidden underground didn't detonate. Later, the explosive ordinance disposal

0:30.2

team unearthed 80 pounds of high explosives from the spot. Tom wore those boots until they fell apart. My lucky boots, he calls them.

1:54.2

today's our daily bread devotional scripture reading is from 1 samuel chapter 4 verses 1 through 11. Now the Israelites went out to fight against the

2:04.2

Philistines. The Israelites camped at Ebenezer and the Philistines at Afeck. The Philistines deployed

2:10.6

their forces to meet Israel, and as the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines,

2:16.5

who killed about 4,000 of them on the battlefield.

2:19.9

When the soldiers returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, why did the Lord bring defeat on us
