There's coming a day when the love with which all mighty, omnipotent, absolutely pure and holy God,

the love with which that God loves the Sun is going to flow into my life and I am going to love the son with the very love of the Almighty

Let me try to tie together verses 1 to 5 with this statement right here and show you what, for me,

at root, is the essence of the gospel and why I am a Christian hedonist.

If anybody can remember the sermons from 1983 on Christian hedonism.

He prays in verses 1 to 5 that God the Father would glorify Him, and that sounds very self-centered, doesn't it?

Glorify me, Father, with the glory that I had before the foundation of the world,

that I might glorify you, and we talked about this conspiracy of glory in the Trinity,

with the Son glorifying the Father, and the Father glorifying the Son,

and the Holy Spirit being the radiant power and personhood, flowing back and forth in this

glory between the Father and the Son.

Now, here it comes to the end of the prayer, and He prays, Father, bring them into this this pulsating glory between you and me that they might see my glory

the gospel is this in my understanding the goal of god is his own glory. My goal is my own joy. And the gospel is that they

terminate on the same point so that there's no conflict between the two.

My joy is to see glory and to love glory.

God's glory is to display it for people to enjoy because it's magnified when people look at and say wow well my wow is my fulfillment and my wow is his destiny as the

most glorified of all beings and therefore my fulfillment and joy and his
