So I just to pause and sense where we've come from.

It's last time sitting up here 24 hours ago and you're sitting there and I don't know

how if it felt like 24 hours to you how many felt like it was like a much

One of the interesting things, there's so many moments of either pleasantness or unpleasantness

and they get intensified when we're at retreat because even if it felt like you were sleeping

through things or lost in thought, you're actually a lot more awake or present than in everyday

There's a power to having a formal intention to pay attention.

So you notice more of the pleasant and unpleasant moments and I know from the groups that many

of you noticed what we traditionally are called the hindrances.

I think of them as the universal challenging energies that every human experiences on the

path.

And you might have noticed them today.

Some of us have more of one type than another but if you're not familiar with them, the

first of the universal challenging energies is sometimes called the wanting mind.

It's that part of us that just want something where I want a nap or I want food now or the

fantasies are going on and in some way we just feel like we're trying to get somewhere else.
