Good evening, everybody. Welcome to the show. Got a great show plan for you. We're going to talk

essentially about fair fighting. Why? Because you're going to fight. The goal is not to never

have conflict. It's just to manage it and deal with it better. I want to open the show by talking

about something that came out in an article, but before I get there, just want to kind of lay the

groundwork and just point out again that fighting's going to happen.

The quality of a relationship of any kind, all kinds is the ability and willingness to

sometimes drop into conflict.

That's how trust and intimacy are built, knowing that our relationship is strong enough

to deal with disappointment, frustrations, and letdowns.

It's just about managing it better so that we are made stronger and brought closer as a result,

which is so foreign to so many people, this idea that conflict can bring us closer,

make us feel stronger and safer.

And it shouldn't be something that separates and wounds.

So we'll be talking about that.

But I wanted to kind of drop into an article that came out. It was, it was essentially swirling around this ever-triggering, triggering

topic that all of us these days can relate to access to, da-da-da-da, your partners, phone,

and devices. And it was a really interesting exploration guided by the

input of a few therapists and different people were sharing. Different non-therapist individuals were

kind of processing and sharing different experiences around trust and boundaries and phone use.

And what was really great to read is excluding first the therapist's own weighing in on

this topic. It was nice to see that a lot of the quote unquote general population really had a very

evolved mature perspective around this. And I was so thankful to see that because sometimes my little
