This is KAMWyland and you're listening to the 70th episode of the word play podcast.

One of the delightful things about writing is how portable it is.

Pop the battery in my laptop, stuff my editing in a Manila folder,

or even just walk out of the house with my ever-present

imagination at the ready and my stories and I are ready to go on the road together.

That's what I'm doing this weekend. A 14-hour car trip to Illinois means the only way I get to write is to take my riding with me.

Fortunately, the trip coincides with my 100 page edit of the deepest breath, so I don't even have

to pack up the bulk of my laptop in order to keep working.

Not so fortunately, just the bare sight of words when riding in a car is enough to make me

car sick.

Fingers cross that I'll be able to fight off the swirling stomach long enough to absorb myself

and my characters for at least a few hours.
