With that, let's get into our study of God's Word today.

On Sunday mornings, we're going through 1 Corinthians, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

And today our text is chapter 13, verses 8 through 10.

I'll have you turn there if you're not there already.

And once there, if you would please stand if you're able, you can follow along

as I read beginning in verse 8 where the Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit writes, love never fails.

But where there are prophecies they will cease.

Where there are tongues, they will be stilled.

Where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

For verse 9, we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

Let's pray. Lord, thank you for your word. Lord, we need for you to in and through your word today and by the Holy Spirit today, speak

very clearly and give us the wisdom and insight into this passage that we have before us

in your word today. Lord, we need you to speak so clearly that a fool could not err thereof.

Make it so clear that we know with a certainty that you are speaking into our lives through your word. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.

As we're about to see, the text that is open before us this

morning in our Bibles, has been the source of much debate and sadly even division within

the body of Christ, very controversial text concerning the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

It's for this reason that before we dive into our text, I think it's of paramount importance
