That was Griselda and I'm John. And in today's episode we're going to be talking about the dearth of good culture coming out over the summer, like every summer.

And celebrating the best of lowbrow culture.

Yeah, so basically this is a lowbrow summer trash special for you all.

But actually, it's not all lowbrow today.

In the interview segment of the podcast, we're going to be hearing from the Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist Elizabeth Strout,

who recently published her amazing novel, Anything as Possible.

Summer ties together this podcast. It's finally here in London. Summer has arrived. How many months

I reckon we get? Two months? How many weeks? I think this is more the question. You never know in

London, so you have to make the most of it. Yeah, and it got us thinking about what books and music we're going to be listening to over the summer.

We're both going off on holiday, and I packed my books and packed some very trashy books as well.

What are you going to be reading? What's in your suitcase? One of my beach routes is by former Arsenal captain, the footballer Tony Adams, and it's called Sober, which is the follow-upup the long-awaited follow-up or not too addicted his memoir from I don't know a decade ago or further back in.

So that is your beat tree?

I have got other higherbrow beach reads but we're not going to go into those today because

this is as we've said are going to be a podcast devoted to all things trashy.

So I'm off to France and Spain

soon and you're off on holiday as well, aren't you? Yep, I am going to California in fact next week,

as I'm telling everybody in the office, taking much delight in that. I'm very excited about it.

L.A. L.A. to San Francisco and everything in between. So we're both off on nice holidays and I'm also sad face off from the F.T. So you're not going to have your podcast, buddy. Sad face, yeah. This is in fact the last podcast that John and I are recording together. The podcast will be back later in the summer. There will be series three. There will be a series three. But John, you're going on to new and better things.

I'm going to be kind of going around London listening to you guys.
