My guest this week is the author and journalist Ruby Tando.

Ruby first rose to fame in 2013 as a much loved contestant on the Great British Bake-Off

when she was just 21.

But her following writing and work is a clipped towers of spun sugar and soggy bottom puns

in a tent.

She has written a Guardian column, co-founded a scene about mental health called Do What You

Want and penned two cookbooks.

Her newly published book, Eat Up, Food, Appetite and Eating What You Want is a joyful celebration

of food of all kinds, drawing on science, literature, movies and her own relationships,

struggles and experiences.

It describes eating an appetite without needless reverence, without pretension and most crucially

without shame.

Their own perhaps less spelled out.

Yeah, I think one thing that I was really keen to do was to not talk a talk about guilty

pleasures, not mentioning whether something's calorie light or anything like that and that

really shouldn't be radical, but it turns out that every single cookbook has a reference

to fatness, has a reference to, I don't know, has a reference to things like your weight

and whether something is indulgent and I don't know, the whole thing is just messed up.

Wicked.
