Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we promised to pray for.

Under its discussion of the 10th commandment,

thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods,

the catacism says that Christians are forbidden

to indulge in greed, which it defines

as the desire to amass earthly goods without limit.

This desire to amass money and stuff without limits, it's dangerous for the soul.

Now, if you are really good at what you do, good at making money,

or let's say really good at winning in this game, think of this.

Make sure that what you do to make money is actually good for people

and good for the common good.

Second, if you have a lot of money and you rely on it to make yourself comfortable, safe and secure,

rather than trusting in God and giving it to Christ by giving your money to the

church and the spiritually and materially poor, then your soul is in danger.

And it is not good for your kids to leave them a bunch of money after you die.

In fact, the goal is to exit this life with no money.

Now, we will have a number of meditations on this point coming soon. But the question is, why would anyone

ever want to have more money than one could ever need or more stuff than one could possibly use.

But it turns out, that's exactly what a lot of people,

probably you and me included, do desire without even realizing it.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name, by kingdom come by will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
