So I have a longtime friend who's married and she has a

young child, almost one years old. Over time, she's developed a habit of coming to me for

constant guidance and decision making. This includes everyday choices as well as parenting

related decisions that I feel she should be confident making on her own. I recently heard

the term labor digger, coined by blogger

named Kiki Bryant, which describes someone who relies on others to do the mental and emotional

labor for them. That term really resonated with me. I'm frequently asked what she should do,

what she should buy, how she should decide to do this, even when it's something deeply personal

or well within her ability as a capable adult and parent to decide on, I have to choose for her.
