So here's the breakdown, right, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The number of those people classed economically inactive stood at 9.4 million in the three months to June.

That's 22.2% of the 16 to 64 year old working population of this country. It's up by 350,000

in the same period last year and has risen by a million since the start of the pandemic.

The number has continued to be stubbornly high, it says here. The number of people on long-term

sickness is at a near record 2.8 million. Students are at 2.56

million who obviously don't do much at all. Don't even go to class these days, do it all online.

Those classes looking after family or home, 1.728 million. A further 228,000 described as being

off with temporary sickness. One million people plus have taken retirement before

the age of 65. All in all, it adds up to 9.4 million people, most of whom we are subsidising
