Summary

LOUIE ANDERSON is one of the greatest comedians of our generation. Johnny Carson invited him to make his national television debut on the "The Tonight Show" in 1984, and the rest became history. “Leno,” “Letterman,” "Comic Relief," Showtime, and HBO specials followed, as well as a hosting gig on “Comedy Showcase,” the late-night series that followed “Saturday Night Live” for over 3 years. As Louie became a household name, doors opened for him as an actor. He guest-starred on hit shows like “Grace Under Fire,” “Touched by an Angel,” and “Chicago Hope” while starring in memorable films like “Coming to America” opposite Eddie Murphy and the classic “Ferris Bueller's Day Off.” In 1995 Louie put his creative energies to work on the Saturday morning animated series “Life with Louie,” based on Anderson’s own childhood life with his father which won three Humanitas Prizes for writing on a children's animated series, making him the only three-time recipient of this award. It also earned a Genesis Award, and most significantly, it garnered two Emmy Awards. As an author, his best selling books include the New York Times Best Seller Dear Dad - Letters From An Adult Child, a collection of alternately touching and outrageous letters from Louie to his late father, and Good-bye Jumbo...Hello Cruel World, a self-help book for those who struggle with self-esteem issues, as only an award-winning comedian could write it. Louie Anderson is one of the most versatile and successful comedians working in the world today. He is loved by the television audiences who never missed his hundreds of stand-up appearances on late night talk shows, network series’, and HBO comedy specials. He is adored by standing-room-only crowds from New York to Vegas, respected by readers of his books, and is worshipped by the rising young comics he mentors throughout the country. Louie Anderson has sold out, an unprecedented, seven consecutive New Year’s Eve performances and has averaged over SEVEN THOUSAND PEOPLE a performance during that stretch. In the world of funny, when it comes to comedy, Louie isn’t just a great comedian—he is one of the hottest, best selling comedians in the history of the our country, sustaining a lasting admiration and draw to his loyal fans for almost a quarter of a century. If there was a Hall of Fame for comedians, Louie would be a unanimous first ballot inductee.
