Summary

I’m Chris Hall, this is the Downtime Podcast, and you’re tuned into your World Cup pre-race warm-up show with the one and only Chris Kilmurray.

Before we get into it, a quick one… if you enjoy these shows and want them to keep happening, we need your support.

This series is fully independent, we don’t have brand backing. Putting it together means paying Chris, Neko and Olly for their time, and getting to races where possible to bring you the best coverage we can. It’s a big commitment, and it only works because of you.

Last season, a few hundred of you stepped up and made it happen and we’d love to build on that this year.

So if you’re into World Cup downhill and want the best insight going, head to patreon.com/downtimepodcast and support from as little as £3 a month. It genuinely makes a difference.

We’ll also be bringing back things like our mid-season Patreon hangout with Chris, Neko and Olly, so you can get involved directly too.

Alright, round two is upon us and we’re back in the familiar setting of Loudenvielle with plenty to talk about. So sit back, hit play and listen to this Loudenvielle pre-race show with Chris Kilmurray.

How's life a bit of a flight back from career, I guess, last time we spoke? Yeah, life is good. Life has been busy. The flight home from Korea was probably easier than the flight there, whatever way the travel worked out and the seats especially, I think, I got an aisle seat the way home. So not quite business class yet, but aisle seat was the one. Got to move around. It felt a lot more alive on the way home. And as is the case for me, often when I come back from a big race week, I don't really get jet lagging the way home because I'm probably tired enough to just need lots of sleep and then get over that for three or four days of quality sleep. And before you know it jet lags kind of a thing of the past which is I'd like to figure it out because in the way there I definitely get jet lag symptoms but often on the way home I don't so there you go strange and there's an excitement I guess when you're going and then a fatigue on the way back that maybe plays into your advice I don't know yeah that honestly the weeks, I think, for all of the staff, especially when you

have a new venue like Korea, and you got a slight commute, even though it was only short for us, it was like a 10-minute commute or less. But you got the commute, you got logistics, you got all the organisation, you got the newness of the whole venue and the excitement, especially of the first race of the season. and you kind of, at least I do,

2:16.5

anyway, progressively wake up earlier

2:17.9

as the week goes on.

2:19.1

So the beginning of a race week

2:20.4

starts like a normal week

2:21.3

and by the time, excitement, especially of the first race of the season. You kind of, at least I do, anyway, progressively wake up earlier as the week goes on.

2:19.1

So the beginning of a race week starts like a normal week. And by the time you get the quality day, kind of I'm wide awake at 5am ready to go, you know. So, yeah, I think by the time you get home, you've done four or five, five a.m. starts and big long days on your feet. So yeah, anti-jet lag. brutal, brutal.
