Summary
In the second half of our ‘Lost in Time’ series, we focus on the opportunism and sudden decline of Juan Carlos Ferrero, the way in which Hana Mandlikova’s achievements were swallowed up by the era defined by Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, the gold-medal winner Miloslav Mecir who bamboozled other top players, and how the tennis media did Dinara Safina - and the women’s game - a disservice by making light of her near misses in Grand Slams.
There’s also reaction to the release of the ATP calendar for the start of 2021 and the confirmation that the Australian Open will take place in February.
The Tennis Podcast is presented by Catherine Whitaker and David Law, and features Matt Roberts. It is produced weekly year-round, and daily during the Grand Slam tournaments.

| 0:08.0 | Hi, this is Henrietta Bradshaw from Gobbling and you're listening to the Totally Brilliant Tennis Podcast. |
| 0:14.0 | Well thank you and hello to Henrietta from Lovely Godleming. By all accounts, a lovely place to live. I've not properly visited but I want to deliver the car there during my time working for a car rental company in my summers from uni. |
| 0:41.0 | The scenery looked lovely as I was driving through Gobbling. So hello Henrietta, thank you for your support in last year's Kickstarter. Thank you for all of those of you that have supported us in this year's Kickstarter. |
| 0:54.0 | It's a lot of you because we have just in the last 24 hours reached £100,000 in funding for 2021. I know it's pretty ludicrous really and we are chuffed to bits. |
| 1:11.0 | I think we better give Matt a pay rise. |
| 1:16.0 | I think so too. All further, all further proceed shall go towards, shall go towards Matt and buying beers for Matt, I think. |
| 1:25.0 | Yeah, so thank you so much. Those words aren't enough. Are they? I just keep saying them and they sound so insufficient every time I say them, but we are overwhelmed. I say that a lot as well. |
| 1:40.0 | Has anybody got any new words for how we're feeling about the Kickstarter, Matt? Flosh. |
| 1:46.0 | No, sort of insert mind blown gif or emoji. Yes, only answer the words. Yes, really amazing. Yeah, just thank you really. That's all we can say. |
| 1:59.0 | Let's go with that. Yeah, we'll just keep saying it. You're listening to part two of Lost in Time tennis. This is coming to you slightly later than planned because one of us we're not revealing which one of us flushed our phones down the |
| 2:17.0 | Lou this morning. Yeah, we don't. Yeah, we all it was just one of those days where things just happened. All I'll say is that it's a little bit depressing how many people have correctly guessed the identity of the phone Lou Flusher on Twitter. |
| 2:36.0 | Little bit depressing. Okay, Lost in time tennis. It's still working by the way. It's still working. It's back on running. There is a reason why one of us has a waterproof phone. Yeah, yeah, works of treatment. |
| 2:52.0 | And I and you two I'm sure as well would definitely recommend waterproof phones to anybody who is slightly accident prone. Yeah, so Lost in time tennis we covered five five Lost in time players on Monday. People are enjoying Lost in time tennis. My one my family certainly are. |
| 3:13.0 | I don't know if that's representative reviews, but my dad sent me a long list of submissions for part two. I won't really love all of them because I'm very fittingly forgotten a lot of the carol. |
| 3:25.7 | Carol Cuchera was on their day. |
| 3:27.9 | Why me? I mean, they take the grade. I mean, the only person in the world wanting an entire podcast about carol. Cuchera. |
| 3:36.4 | I mean, really look, I tell you, we've got I'm going to go right right ahead and just tell you at least that Mirace, Mirace Love Machir is on the list who really should be going ahead of carol. Cuchera, who was known as the little cat. |
| 3:50.6 | Because he's the same nationality in playing style and was coached by the big cat. Mirace Love Machir. |
| 3:57.4 | Wasn't Carol Cuchera your sort of ATP comms era? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he was a he was a lovely player. Got new stories just to keep my dad happy. |
| 4:07.2 | Just a beautiful mover around the court. I can understand why he was compared to Machir who will go on to talk about the and Cuchera got some either got great wins or more often than not really, really pushed. |
| 4:24.4 | Very, very good players or top players to the limit in big matches, you know, he was a great opponent. I remember one time with Cuchera being at Queens where we were stood on the side of the court and he was playing Tim Hemen. |
