Hello there, welcome to the 10th episode of the What Bit Bitcoin did

podcast and I think this is probably my most important interview to date.

I mentioned previously that even though this podcast started out as interviews with traders,

I'm getting more exposure to other stories within the crypto space which I find pretty interesting.

This morning I met with and interviewed a lady by the name of Lynn Albrick, who is the mother of

Russ Albrick.

He received a double life sentence plus 40 years for his role as the founder of the

Dark Web Marketplace, the Silk Road, and he will essentially die in prison if they are unsuccessful in their appeal to the Supreme Court.

If you are not aware of Ross or the Silk Road, I'm wondering what this has to do with

Bitcoin.

Well, the Silk Road was an anonymous marketplace which allowed people to purchase items, primarily drugs, on the dark web anonymously, using Bitcoin.

And if you read the book Digital Gold, and whichever side of the debate you sit on you will see the

important role that the Silk Road played in Bitcoin's history as it was the first

real use case for people to spend Bitcoin. The website was operated under the

pseudonym Dread Pirate Roberts and ultimately Ross was arrested and charged with being this person, along with a number of other charges, which you can find

out on Wikipedia or read about on the free Ross website, but I will share this within the show notes.

It's definitely an emotive subject and it definitely splits opinion.

Since I announced the interview, I've already had a handful of debates

around topics related to the interview and I can understand

arguments on both sides. Should drugs be illegal? Should we have the choice to

put in our body what we want? You know is Ross a criminal or is he somebody who fought for
