And good morning. It is Saturday, May 20th. I'm Ali Velshi. As the old saying goes, if at first you don't succeed, stop following the Republican playbook.

You'd think that after just one bad election cycle, the GOP would have regrouped and reassessed its shortcomings so it could rebound.

But it's been nearly seven years since the Republicans' last truly significant win,

Donald Trump's Electoral College victory in 2016.

Since then, the losses have kept piling up.

A blue wave helped Democrats take back the House in 2018.

Two years later, Joe Biden took over the White House and key victories in both of the Georgia Senate races gave Democrats control of that chamber as well. And although Republicans did

take back the House last November, this predicted red waves never materialized, and the Republican's

delicate coalition was exposed by the bitter 15-round battle for the speakership last January.

And there continue to be warning signs for Republicans in smaller elections. On Tuesday,
