We start in Los Angeles, where the National Guard has been deployed on the orders of President Trump

as protests over raids on undocumented migrants continued for a third day.

The president's decision bypassed the Democratic Governor of California, Gavin Newsom,

who called the move purposefully inflammatory and accused Mr Trump of trying to manufacture a crisis.

The protests, largely involving members of the city's Hispanic community,

have been largely peaceful, although there have been instances of people throwing rocks and clashing

violently with local police. President Trump has said he may yet decide to widen the scope of the

deployments and even send in US Marines if the protests grow. The Speaker of the House

of Representatives, Mike Johnson, has defended President Trump's intervention. He was speaking on ABC's
