to see it for yourself to realize how bad things were.

This was the scene at Michigan and Washington last evening.

And on Friday night, a 14 year old boy was shot near the 31st street beach after fights broke out

among a large crowd of teams. In a statement incoming mayor Brandon Johnson said it is unacceptable

and has no place in our city. However, it is not constructive to demonize youth,

who've otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities.

Mayor Laurie Lightfoot says her office has been having conversations with Chicago police

about monitoring and responding to the gatherings, saying we as a city cannot and will not allow

any of our public spaces to become a platform for criminal conduct.

CPD has assured me they will make the necessary adjustments to address these
