And let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We are literally sitting on the shore of the sea of Galilee just a few meters away from Peter's house and the headquarters of Jesus. It was in this synagogue that Jesus taught the bread of life discourse, that the Eucharist really is his body, blood, soul, and infinity.

So in the sixth chapter of John, Jesus gives this great teaching on the Eucharist,

and he tells his listeners that they must eat his flesh and drink his blood

if they are to have eternal life. This is understandably a very

strange teaching for them to hear. How they say can this man give us his flesh to eat or his blood to drink?

And why would we want to do such a thing?

So they say, this is a hard saying. Who can accept it? And right then, many of those who used to follow Jesus decide they aren't going to follow him anymore. And Jesus

lets him go. And then he turns to his apostles and he doesn't ask them to stay.

He doesn't thank them for staying.
