Let's imagine that heaven forbid, one day you come home and your car has been stolen, straight out of your driveway.

A few years later, you're on holiday in another state, another region of your country.

And all of the sudden, there it is, right in front of you, your car hiding in plain sight.

It's just sitting there, with your old license plate, leaving no doubt as to who originally owned it, or where it came from.

You contact the police, but they just sort of shrug and tell you that the theft is now old news.

And since it happened in another jurisdiction, it's not their problem.

It's been years and years since the theft they say, let's leaping dogs lie.

You sit with this answer for a few weeks, in sense that the authorities are doing nothing whatsoever to return your stolen car.

In the dead of night, you sneak up to the car, pick the lock, hotwire the ignition, and drive off.
