Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our recent Searchlight programs, we have learned that there are three problems with sin. The first is the penalty of sin.

The penalty of sin is death, but this problem was dealt with by Jesus on the cross.

Our sin is paid for, and we don't have to deal with the penalty of sin ourselves.

The second problem is the power of sin, but this problem is also dealt with,

because the power of sin in our lives today was broken by the cross. Now we are looking

at a third problem, the preoccupation with sin. This happens because we realize the destructive

nature of sin, and we don't want to have anything

to do with it.

Ironically, the result is that we become preoccupied with sin as we try to keep rules and

regulations to protect ourselves.

As we join our teaching today, we are looking at an illustration which powerfully shows this problem of being
