Hello and welcome to the podcast. I'm your host Evan Brand. You know, I've been doing this show for 12 plus years now.

0:05.7

I'm just super glad to be with you guys still. It's amazing to see how far social media and health

0:10.0

contents come. You know, back then it was me. It was Mark Sisson of Primal Kitchen now. And I guess he sold that to, who was it,

0:18.5

Heinz, Kraft. Anyway, amazing. But it was me and him and just a few

0:22.5

others a decade ago. Sean Croxton was on the web, not many others. And so it's amazing to see now

0:28.4

just how much content is out there. And I know it can be overwhelming and confusing. And I don't

0:32.5

want to say I know everything or I'm the best. But I will tell you, after a decade in the practice, working

0:38.4

clinically with thousands of people, I've been able to sort through the noise that I see come

0:42.4

across my feed. I get probably, I don't know, 50 messages a day just on Instagram alone from

0:48.0

people, hey, have you seen this? What do you think of this? Can you check this out? And there's so much now. And a lot of it is pretty good. But there's a lot of it that's not good. And there's a lot of it that's confusing for people. And it's sending people the wrong direction. So I just encourage you when you're vetting a practitioner, you're vetting information. Look for someone that's worked clinically. Just these n equals one experiments is not good enough for me, meaning someone who

1:12.1

has a million followers and I fixed myself by doing this, everyone should do that. I see those people,

1:18.0

I see the people clinically that follow those people and they're not perfect on paper. And this magic

1:24.7

thing they were supposed to do that they did did not fix them sometimes it

1:28.8

takes getting the functional medicine data getting the labs to see actually what's wrong some of

1:33.6

these people that eat perfect i've run labs on these major million plus health influencers some of

1:39.4

them they agree initially to do a podcast with me and then when we get their labs back they

1:43.7

change their

1:44.1

mind. I'll let you read between the lines on that. But I've seen these people on paper and they're not

1:48.7

perfect either. So let me help you get some data so we can figure out where are you at in your

1:54.6

functional medicine journey. Are you lacking in neurotransmitters? Are you lacking in nutrients? Do you

1:59.2

have malabsorption? We had a woman yesterday

2:01.8

eating very well, but her steaticrit was 30%, meaning she's not digesting her fats at all. So pretty
