especially in Luke's gospel, he is rejected. He's rejected by his own hometown folks. Welcome back to Issues, etc. I'm Todd Wilkin. Thanks for tuning us in live on this Thursday afternoon,

the 23rd of January. It's time to look forward to Sunday morning, according to the three-year

lectureary, the third Sunday after the Epiphany. Pastor Sean Denzer is our guest,

Great to be back. We are in the season of Epiphany. How else are we going to see Jesus

manifesting himself among us? Yeah, we need to think back about two weeks when we had the baptism

of our Lord.

We skip a little bit, but we're kind of picking up at the story early there in his ministry.

He's baptized in all four gospels, and then he goes, and he is tempted by the devil in the wilderness.

We will hear that at the beginning of Lent, as we do every year, symbolizing or recognizing the 40 days of Lent are patterned after Christ's temptation and fasting in the desert. But immediately after that, connected to his baptism still, Jesus goes and begins to teach and to perform miracles and to do his earthly ministry. That's where we pick up today,

with him going to his hometown of Nazareth and doing as he always does, entering into the
