Now in this discussion, oftentimes we tend to focus in the here and now, especially those of us in the Southern Baptist Convention, we talk about the Calvinist versus the non-Calvinist or the Armenians or whatever labels,

traditionalist, whatever labels you want to put on it.

And many of us who are familiar with this debate, no, it's not a new debate.

We know that there was long before us, Calvin and Arminius.

There was before them Erasmus and Luther before them was Augustine and Pelagius.

And the history of Christianity is full of this discussion.

And thus it's important for us to understand some of those things.

And the Southern Baptist Convention, I know there's even debates about the foundation of the Southern Baptist Convention. I testify in my blog post about my history. I was one

of those card-carrying members of the founders of the SBC because there is obviously some evidence

from Tom Nettles and that group from the founders that show that some of the first Southern Baptist were

Calvinistic. And there have been Calvinist among just about every group of Baptist, just as there
