Welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World, an episode that almost didn't happen because Jimmy Phel and I were in the fight of our lives yesterday.

0:18.0

We were on an easy-peasy flight from Chicago to LaGuardia, something that should

0:22.0

have taken a little less than two hours. But unbeknownst to us, there was the storm of the century

0:27.8

that had grabbed hold of the eastern seaboard in its angry maw and shook it uncontrollably,

0:34.5

not like an earthquake, but like the tears of Zeus, the god of thunder,

0:39.4

had rained upon all of the East Coast, and we were diverted.

0:43.8

At first we were told the plane was being diverted to Pennsylvania, which wouldn't have been a far drive for us.

0:48.4

But then the plane touched down, and I was like, oh, here we are in Pennsylvania.

0:53.1

And the pilot said, folks, welcome to

0:55.0

Cleveland. And then he said, all of the airports on the eastern seaboard have been shut down. We have

1:03.3

a stop fly. A ground stop flying your stopping flies. Yep. And so Jimmy texted me from a few rows back and said I rented a car. So Jimmy Fela, here we are. Here we are. So what happened? You tell me your version of events. Well, it's important for the audience to know that at the time our flight was diverted, the weather was so severe that the Yankees were playing nine innings of baseball, a mile from the airport. And my wife and child were parked at LaGuardia in a convertible to pick me up from. That's how intense the weather was. They were fighting over what kind of sunscreen to wear while we were being told it was not possible to fly to the East Coast. So to start here, there was a scam. And I know this was a scam. Why?

1:44.6

Because there's about 20 people walking around Fox today that had the same experience last night.

1:49.6

Really? Yes. Brian Brenberg got delayed all the way out until four in the morning.

1:54.0

Taylor Rigg, same story. Bill Hammer saw it coming and moved his flight up.

1:58.5

Smart. And got away from a 3 p.m. flight. But the point is, Kennedy and I started our day in Holland, Michigan, drove 200 miles to Chicago. That's true. Okay, that's where the day started. We drove from Holland to Chicago because we wanted a nonstop flight. And we wanted a drink before the nonstop flight to be. Let's be honest about that. That's absolutely correct. That's who you're dealing with here.

2:18.1

Just so you know, it was very important for us to be able to drink at 6 a.m. yesterday morning. Now, at the time... In our defense, it was 7. Yes. It was 7. And when we made that campaign promise to ourselves, we had not budgeted to do 700 miles of driving yesterday. And by the way, shout out to Jay in the United Club at Chicago O'Hare next to B6.

2:37.4

Phenomenal, Bloody Mary. Yeah, take a bow, Jay, wherever you are. If you're even able to stand at this point. You like that I said Bloody Mary singular. Yeah, yeah, you did that. Way to clean it up for corporate. I love you. You made it sound like it was coming out of a glass and not a funnel. But anyway, stick with me, folks.

2:51.5

When you make it 8 a.m. flight. Who knew you could do a kegstand with vodka and tomato juice? So we were told it was an hour and 20 minute flight from Chicago to New York. We got about 30 minutes into that flight when the shenanigans started. We had encountered a thunderstorm in western Pennsylvania. they suspended beverage service

3:08.4

told us we're in some real

3:10.0

turbulent weather, just buckle up.

3:11.6

Can I just stop you for a second?

3:13.3

When did they start making planes with Reynolds wrap?
