I read these four longevity books and hundreds of the underlying scientific papers so you don't have to.

I'm Dr. Vinay Prasad and in this week's Medicine Unpacked, we're going to get into nutrition science.

0:11.0

So, welcome back to the second installment of Medicine Unpacked.

0:15.0

I'm diving into nutrition science this week and we're going to get into at least two of the topics

0:20.0

that I hope to cover and what will likely be a series of videos on nutrition science. Now, as a brief recap, this whole

0:26.4

series is about longevity medicine, and I'm tackling longevity because I think it is an interesting

0:31.2

topic that many of us want better information and to better understand the evidence underneath

0:36.5

these recommendations. I read four

0:38.9

longevity books, and these truly span the gamut. They go from people who run conciergeers or

0:44.5

functional medicine practices all the way to professors and provosts of universities. So we have the

1:13.3

at 55, 65, or 70, God forbid, from the complications of diabetes or a broken hip, how can we live

1:20.5

to 80, 85, 88 years old? That's preventing untimely death. But I'm also interested in the question

1:27.0

that I think so many

1:27.8

people are, which is truly life extension. How do I live to 100, 120, 140, or as some people believe,

1:36.5

that will keep living so long, they'll continue to be medical advances that would us live forever.

1:42.0

So I'm interested in separating their ideas in the first and second buckets.

1:46.0

And in the first video of this series, I also talk about how sometimes you can appraise an idea for its direct contribution to how long you live or how well you live,

1:56.0

but sometimes we can appraise it simply for adherence. In other words, how well can people stick with a
