All right, you guys, I'm back. Thank you. I had to take a little hiatus, A, to put on the Badger Trail Races, and B, to have my surgery on my knee. So, sorry for the delay and the lack of shows, but we're back, and I'm back recording and everything's good to go. My knee is healing. It sucks, but it doesn't suck in the way that I thought it would suck it's just more

0:21.9

irritating than than painful and I can't really do anything is my problem so it's like all

0:27.0

activities are a big pain in my butt and I need a lot of help so at any rate things are going well

0:32.2

0:36.9

0:59.5

going to do a long run episode with Michael Salsbury and uh if you don't know him I didn't uh but I did

1:06.7

know that he had a book that sat on my credenza forever. And, you know, I get a lot of running

1:12.0

books. People just send them to me unsolicited. And some of them are good. Some of them are bad.

1:16.6

A lot of them are bad. But anyway, I picked up this book and I started reading it. And it was one of the

1:22.1

best memoirs I've ever read. And so kind of like a warning going into it. First of all, Mike had three children that died as infants.

1:32.3

And it's kind of the story of him, his life woven through the deaths of those three children.

1:37.9

But one of the through lines is his love and discovery of ultra running with his son, Sebastian, who's a pretty notorious

1:46.6

ultra runner as well. So we get to learn a little bit about Sebastian and about his introduction

1:52.5

into ultra running at a very early age. And that's a really neat story itself. But I don't know,

1:57.7

I just, I just really, really enjoyed this guy's life story,, even the non-running parts from the places he went and the things that took place. And I really, really enjoyed it. So I'm going to put a link. I'm going to strongly recommend it. I put a link in the show notes. It's called Running from Tragedy, a memoir by Michael Salisbury. I'll put a link where you can go buy it from his store. I'll also put a link to a substack, which we discussed in the show.

2:18.5

And as always, if you buy the book and you send me a screenshot, I'll send you above

2:21.7

because we like to support authors that put these out.

2:24.9

And I really think if you like to read it all, I think you'll like this book.

2:28.8

There's just something about it.
