Somebody's trying to break in our house.

Back on April 25th, 2010, an intruder broke into Heidi and Nick Firkus's home, leaving

Heidi deceased from a single gunshot wound to the back, and Nick with superficial injuries, from

a shotgun blast to his leg.

Heidi's autopsy would reveal that there was no exit wound, that the shotgun pellets had

expanded and ruptured her vertebrae, left

and anterior ribs, as well as her left lung.

The matter of death in this case was subsequently ruled a homicide.

Even though Nick Fercus had agreed to meet with Sergeant Gray again after his first police

interview, he'd since had a change of heart.

Per his father's advice, the Fercus' hired an attorney, at which point Nick's lawyer advised him to immediately cease all communication with the St Paul police.

This came after he'd been asked to come in and help draw a police sketch using Nick's description of the supposed suspect in Home Invader.

Although he declined, being the churchgoing gentleman that Nicholas Fercus was, he would make a compromise.

He and his attorney offered to come up with their own sketch by working with an independent

artist, but it would take them a few weeks to do so.
