I'm your host, West Goldberg Warriors writer for the Mercury News. We'll have some news about some changes to the show toward the end of the program, but let's start with the trade deadline.

This morning, I reported that the Warriors would like to see more of DeAngel Russell playing with Steph Curry before they make a decision.

And that came on the same morning that there were reports from the athletic

that the Warriors and the Timberwolves were still engaged in trade conversations.

There were names like Andrew Wiggins were thrown out there.

There's another report now saying that the Knicks were offering Bobby Portis and Frank Niel Aquina,

which, okay, great, call me when you have something I care about New York.

But there's been a lot of skepticism about

whether or not the Warriors would trade DeAngel Russell before Thursday's trade deadline.

And look, I stand by my reporting. Multiple people within the team have told me that they would

like to see DeAngel Russell play with Steph Curry before making a decision. And that's why I do think that any DeAngel Russell trade is far more likely to happen

in the summer than within the next couple of days.

And there's a big reason why you do that.

Number one, trading for a guy like DeAngel Russell, well, there's not a lot of teams

out there that are going to do that,

and certainly not as many teams that are going to do that mid-season as opposed to teams that would do that during the summer,

when teams are far more likely and apt to make wholesale changes to their team, right?

So I think that's part of it.

The other part of it is that I don't think this Timberwolves offer is going away.

Now, there's already some rumors that the Timberwolves are looking to trade Robert Covington.
