Welcome inside the locked on Steelers podcast. I'm your host John Ledyard from fanragsports.com and we are into the bye week.

I want to talk about a new game or something like that, but we can't, we can't just yet, but we still can look back at the Steelers Detroit game because there were a couple things I wanted to point out to you guys from this game that I think were key takeaways that we got to talk about before we move forward one Todd Haley it was such a good

call to start the game on the screen and go past a juju bubble scene whatever you call it we call

it a joker pass where I coach football we we call it a joker pass I know some people call it that

now where you fake this the bubble you're going to run the bubble, and one of the guys going down

to block just flatters out and down the field and ends up being turned into basically an

iron route. And it was such a good call to start the game for several reasons. I think lines

were in single high to start the game. So you like that. You know, the safety is going to have a hard time widening down to the sideline.

But also, you know, the Steelers start off a lot of games, throwing those bubbles and

their tendencies.

Throwing bubbles or throwing the, you know, the hand concept where everybody has a curl,

or everybody's a hitch, I'm sorry.

And so I think that when you have staples and tendencies like that

that you rely on and Pittsburgh does start a lot of games fairly similarly you have to change it up

every now and again and take a shot so teams can't key on any one thing so great great from that

perspective and then great because i mean i think that the steelers haven't hit a lot of big plays

vertically um this season,

not compared to what they did a couple years ago.

And I know that that's something they want to get into the offense.

And you could see, Ben didn't throw the ball.

It wasn't a great ball to do you, but it's a great way to get those explosive plays coming.

And maybe, you know, you get a defender out of the box that you normally wouldn't.
