On the 11th floor of the Advent Health Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida,

Hector Aponte was the bedside nurse doing hourly rounds.

The floor was full with 34 patients.

Hector was assigned to five patients on this Saturday, January 21st, 2023, in the critical care ward. One of those patients was an elderly

man named Jerry Gillen, who was in his room with his wife Ellen at his side. At one point that

morning, Hector heard something, a noise. It happened around 11 a.m. and it was coming from Jerry's hospital

room. He went to investigate. I heard a huge, like, man or like somebody fell. It didn't sound

to me like a gunshot. I just felt like somebody fell to the floor from the bed.
