Still sounds weird to say it is 2023, actually, I think it still sounds weird that we ever

said it was 2022 or 2021, it is kind of weird to live this far in the future from where

I started out all the way back in the 1970s, right, old man now.

We are going to finish up our four-part series today on the four pillars of Homestead.

And I would say for those of you that are permaculture enthusiasts, there is definitely

a permaculture theme within the concept of homesteading, but I tried to make it more broad

with this.

My grandfather certainly wouldn't have considered himself a permaculturist, he wouldn't

have known the word.

This is really just how a lot of America lived for a very long time and the majority of Americans

lived this way.

In fact, it was the majority not so long ago, even long after many people moved off the

farms.

It was a time in America, not so long ago, a century ago, say, where the vast majority

of people in America made their living either directly or indirectly from agriculture.

And now they call it non-farm payroll.

I don't even know if we need to do that anymore because so few Americans, relatives of the
