Summary

Sir Keir Starmer has declared that the “road to a better Britain” is being “paved with Labour wins” as the party celebrated a series of local election victories across England. The Liberal Democrats have also been celebrating success, taking Windsor and Maidenhead, which covers Theresa May’s constituency. Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak has defended the government’s position.
