Conservative MPs have chosen the final two candidates to be presented to the Tory membership in the final round of this leadership contest. Over the rest of the summer, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak will be travelling around the country to attend dozens of hustings with Tory members. Will this phase be less rancorous? Or will the divides between the two candidates only become more apparent? Isabel Hardman talks to Katy Balls and James Forsyth.

I'm Isabelle Hardman and I'm joined by Katie Walsh and James Versaith.

We've just had the results of the final round of parliamentary voting

in the Conservative Leadership Contest. Rishisunak has got 137 votes,

Liz Truss got 113 votes and Penny Mordent is knocked out with 105.

So it's going to be Rishisunak versus Liz Truss.

Katie, was this a surprise in the end?

I think this is the most likely outcome as soon as Cammy Badenock was knocked out.

In the sense that throughout this contest the problem that Liz Truss had

is that there hasn't been one single candidate pitching to the right of the party.

And there was the other brave men, there was Cammy Badenock and then there was Liz Truss.

And even when she had a brave men was knocked out, the votes split.

Despite she had a brave men urging her supporters to get behind Liz Truss,

specifically saying to them, a vote for Cammy is dividing the vote.

Cammy Badenock appeared just looking at the base numbers
