Hey guys and welcome to episode 60 at the

O.C.com podcast.

Now in this episode I wanted to take a little detail

I wanted to touch on a topic or a part of O. C.

that we haven't really discussed and that is kind of some of the side

Then it's not a side disorder. It's a disorder in its own right, but under the DSM it's classified kind of in the OCD family or the OCD spectrum and that is compulsive skin picking or

it can also be called CSP or it can even be called dermatillomania and this is as I mentioned a minute ago it's it's

constantly trying to pick the skin and to the point where sometimes you can be

really covered where you've just picked all your skin away it's's quite traumatic disorder and it's one I wanted to touch on because

in case this affects you or someone you know and I got Liz Atkins on the show. Liz, Liz here in the UK and she's a visual artist and she's

become somewhat famous internet famous for compulsive one minute compulsive charcoal drawings and what she does to kind of keep her hands

busy so she's not picking or anything like that is she'll grab in here in London on the underground which is is the subway, the metro, whatever you want to call it.

We get these free newspapers in the morning called the metro.

And she'll basically people would just dump them on the tube when they leave and they don't throw them in the recycling and it's very annoying.

But Liz has used this to her advantage and what she does is she finds the discarded papers and she has a sort of a bag of charcoal

and then she just start drawing over some of the adverts, some of the photos and pictures within the metro

and then what she does is she gives them to people she

sees because it's quite a spectacle seeing her do this there's there's videos on

her Twitter and I'll put one on the show notes as well.

And then she uses that as a way to engage people

and raise awareness around dermatillomania,

compulsive skin picking.
