Well, we've been doing a series every Tuesday on Living with the End in Mind.

And today's topic is one, I'll just be honest. I may not have tackled it, if not for

John Burke. In times past when I heard about near-death experiences, I just left it alone.

But a number of years ago, around the time that my brother-in-law died from pancreatic cancer,

I just developed this profound hunger to know more about heaven. And I didn't want to talk with

guests given to sensationalism or out

on a limb theology. In fact, this isn't even a topic John Burke set out to explore. He's got an

engineer brain and he says he's more the cerebral type. So this is not a sensational pie in the

sky book. It's a well-researched and astute analysis of many people who claim to have near-death

experiences from people who had more to lose

by speaking up than they did by keeping quiet. Again, John never set out to be this guy to explore
