captive as slays in Egypt. Then their God, Yawe, performs a series of

dazzling miracles and gets them out.

Now under the leadership of Moses, the freed Israelites, are headed to the Promised Land.

We're headed for the Promised Land.

I can still hear Jim Rone telling me the story for the first time.

Now, you just got free. You are under the care and protection of God's anointed one.

And you're headed to the promise land. Sounds like a success story,, but it's not. It's a tragedy because they never got there. Why? Because from day one they started to gripe and complain. They griped about the food. They just got delivered from slavery and now

they're saying this food's not all that hot. They were facing starvation and God

provided them with mauna from heaven but they could only compare it unfavorably to the delicious melons, cucumbers, and

meats that they had known in Egypt.

They wind and cried about the water.

They had water, in the desert, and they're griping about it. They said this water doesn't taste that good. I mean come on

Give us a break. How much of this can you take? They wind and cried and griped about the leadership

The leadership that delivered them from slavery,

the leadership that parted the Red Sea

with the strike of their staff.

They said, this leadership's not all that competent.
