Second Chronicles, chapter 26, verse 16.

But when he was strong, he grew proud to his destruction,

for he was unfaithful to the Lord his God.

What a verse describing Uzziah, who was such a strong, verse 16, here says, and successful

king who sought the Lord and glorified God in so many different ways.

But then he became proud to his destruction, which led him to unfaithfulness to God, specifically to entering into the temple to burn incense on the altar of incense when he wasn't supposed to.

But I really want to hone in and lead us to pray in light of this sequence that verse 16 outlines.

He was strong.

That's the first picture that led to two, him becoming proud, that led to three, his destruction.

Strength that leads to pride, that leads to destruction destruction is that possible in your life in any way for that which is good

strength is good and strength was a good picture in your zai's life but is it possible for anything that is good in your life

to lead to pride in your life to lead to pride in your life, to lead to

trust in yourself, to lead to confidence in yourself? Let's just put it out there.

Even as I use that language, this is what the world tells us to do, to be confident in ourselves,

in our own strength and our own resources, be

self-sufficient. But this is where the Bible just confronts us with totally different

truth, that we are not self-sufficient, and we don't need to be self-confident but that doesn't mean we don't have

sufficiency and it doesn't mean we don't have confidence it's that our confidence is found in

God in Christ in us in his strength in us and our sufficiency is found in God not in ourselves

and so how do we avoid pride that then leads to destruction to

realize self-sufficiency, self-confidence leads to destruction? How do we live with confidence in God,
