waving through every single merger and acquisition

that came across this desk because as a matter

of national security and geopolitics,

they wanted to build Big Tech.

They wanted to use it as an instrument of state craft,

and that's exactly what happened.

And here we are confronting the fact

that all of our communications and economic activity

has basically been centralized

in the hands of a few institutions

that are basically arms of the state.

These institutions are at serious risk

because if Taiwan gets taken off of their table,

then they're going to start being major shortages

of chips and motherboards and things that they desperately need.

And all this stuff radiates all the way down

toward the ordinary American who's not living out in the sticks.
